Audrey Williams Selected as Deputy Director for the Forensic Science Center

Forensic Science Center (FSC) director Brad Hart announced the selection of Audrey Williams as deputy director. In this role, Williams will serve as a key member and advisor of the FSC management team within LLNL’s Global Security principal directorate and will collaborate with FSC staff to develop and execute core functions and strategic plans. The FSC’s mission is to conduct innovative research and provide real-world operational support across a broad-spectrum of chemical, biological, radiological/nuclear, and explosive forensic science.

Dr. Williams came to LLNL in 2007 as a graduate student and became a staff scientist in the FSC in 2009, focusing on the Department of Homeland Security Chemical Forensics Program and establishing biomedical signature and animal exposure capabilities. In 2014, Williams was appointed associate program leader for Applied Programs in the FSC where she was responsible for managing the Intelligence Community portfolio, expanding the role of the FSC in real-world sample analysis, integrating multiple sponsors, and recruiting for the FSC scientific staff. Williams holds a Ph.D. in Chemistry and a Master of Science in Forensic Science from Michigan State University, and a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry and Criminal Justice from Xavier University.
